The National Directorate of Security (NDS Pashto: د ملي امنیت ریاست Dari: ریاست امنیت ملی also referred to as Amniyat or Amaniyat) is the domestic intelligence agency of the government of Afghanistan. It reports directly to the President and the National Assembly. The NDS has about thirty departments and different branches all across Afghanistan. It employs an estimated 15000 to 30000 people mostly trained by the United States Department of Homeland Security and some other NATO states.
