The National Democratic Party (or NDP) is a political party in the British Virgin Islands. It was founded in 1999. In the 2011 general election the NDP won a majority of seats and forms the present elected Government of the Territory. Its present leader Orlando Smith is also the Premier of the British Virgin Islands. Prior to 2011 the party most recently held power after the 2003 general election held on 16 June 2003 the party won 52.4% of popular votes and 8 out of 13 elected seats.
