Narcolepsy /ˈnɑrkəˌlɛpsi/ also known as hypnolepsy is a chronic neurological disorder caused by the brain’s inability to regulate sleep-wake cycles normally. People with narcolepsy often experience disturbed nocturnal sleep and an abnormal daytime sleep pattern which often is confused with insomnia.
