In enzymology a naphthoate synthase (EC 4.1.3.36) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactiono-succinylbenzoyl-CoA CoA + 14-dihydroxy-2-naphthoateHence this enzyme has one substrate o-succinylbenzoyl-CoA and two products CoA and 14-dihydroxy-2-naphthoate.This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the oxo-acid-lyases which cleave carbon-carbon bonds.
