Moroccan Arabic or Darija (in Morocco known as الدارجة Eddarija [əddæɾiʒä]; Berber: Eddarija or Taɛrabt) is the variety of Arabic spoken in Morocco. For official communications the government and other public bodies use Modern Standard Arabic (which is not spoken in daily life and is used only in written documents and TV news). A mixture of written Arabic and French or Spanish is used in business and banking.
