The Israeli Ministry of Education (Hebrew: מִשְׂרָד הַחִנּוּךְ translit. Misrad HaHinukh) is the branch of government charged with overseeing public education institutions in Israel. The political head of the department is the Minster of Education currently Shai Piron.The ministry has previously been known as the Ministry of Education and Culture (1949–1977 1984–1990 1992–1993) and the Ministry of Education Culture and Sport (1977–1984 1990–1992 1993–1999 2003–2006).
