Methyl isocyanide or Isocyanomethane is an organic compound and a member of the isocyanide family. This colorless liquid is isomeric to methyl cyanide (acetonitrile) but its reactivity is very different. Methyl isocyanide is mainly used for making 5-membered heterocyclic rings.
