Melody Selvon was born on Mauritius Island on September 17 1989. She did a good part of her primary schooling in Australia where she stayed nearly five years with her family. Her family then migrated to Canada where she graduated from the Glenmary Catholic School in the Province of Alberta.While preparing to attend university she went back to Mauritius to take part in the national beauty pageant as the youngest of all contestants and was crowned Miss Mauritius just before her 17th birthday.
