Michael Bloomberg served as the 108th Mayor of New York City from January 1 2002 to December 31 2013. He first won election in 2001 and he won re-election in 2005 and 2009.Bloomberg said he wanted reforming public education to be the legacy of his first term and addressing poverty to be the legacy of his second. He was known as a political pragmatist and for a managerial style that reflected his experience in the private sector.
