Matteo Ricci S.J. (Italian: [matˈtɛo ˈrittʃi]; October 6 1552 – May 11 1610; simplified Chinese: 利玛窦; traditional Chinese: 利瑪竇; pinyin: Lì Mǎdòu; courtesy name: 西泰 Xītài) was an Italian Jesuit priest and one of the founding figures of the Jesuit China Mission as it existed in the 17th–18th centuries. His current title is Servant of God.
