Marty Markowitz (born February 14 1945) is a former Borough President of Brooklyn New York City the most populous borough in New York City with nearly 2.6 million residents. Markowitz was first elected borough president in 2001 after serving 23 years as a New York State Senator. His third term began in January 2010 and ended in December 2013.
