The 2009 Markham Ward 3 By-election took place on November 23 2009 to elect a ward councillor to fill the spot that was left vacant after Tony C. Wong as Regional Councillor died and Joseph Virgilio of Ward 3 was appointed Wong’s spot which left Ward 3 without a ward councillor. The winner of this by-election served 11 months from November 23 2009 to October 25 2010 until the 2010 municipal election.
