Mandar (also Andian Manjar Mandharsche) is an Austronesian language spoken by the group ethnic Mandar living in West Sulawesi province Indonesia especially in the sea side regencies like – Majene and Polewali-Mandar as well as few settlements in the islands of Pangkep District also known as Spermonde Archipelago and Ujung Lero small peninsula near Pare-Pare).[citation needed]According to the Ethnologue it is written in the Lontara (Buginese) script.The ethic group Mandar is closely related to other three groups living in South Sulawesi: Bugis Makassar and Toraja.
