Malate dehydrogenase (oxaloacetate-decarboxylating) (NADP+) (EC 1.1.1.40) or NADP-malic enzyme (NADP-ME) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction in the presence of a bivalent metal ion:(S)-malate + NADP+ pyruvate + CO2 + NADPHThus the two substrates of this enzyme are (S)-malate and NADP+ whereas its 3 products are pyruvate CO2 and NADPH.
