Maine wine refers to wine made from grapes grown in the U.S. state of Maine. Most wine produced in Maine is made from fruit other than grapes including apple cranberry and blueberry wines. A small number of wineries in Maine are producing limited quantities of wine made from locally-grown French hybrid grape varieties. Maine is a very cold climate for viticulture despite the moderating effects on its climate due to the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean.
