Mahawar (Hindi or Rajasthani : महावर ) is originally caste of the Koli community originating from the Gujarat .However Majority of Mahawars are of Koli ancestry . But some small number of Mahawars later mixed with Rajput people and this resulted in the formation of Mahawar Rajputs .They could only be found in only Ajmer city and nowhere else .They follow only Hinduism .In much of North India (including Rajasthan Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh) it is regarded as a family name.
