Madhav Rao I (or Pradhanpant Shrimant Madhavrao (Ballal) Peshwa I aka Thorle Madhav Rao Peshwa ) (14 February 1745 – 18 November 1772) was fourth Peshwa of the Maratha Empire. Under his peshwaship Maratha power recovered from the losses suffered during the Panipat Campaign a phenomena known as Maratha Resurrection. He is considered one of the greatest personalities of the Maratha history.
