Machzikei Hadas (literally translated from Hebrew as ‘Supporters of the law’) is an Orthodox synagogue in Ottawa Ontario. Werner Edgar Noffke (architect) designed thsynagogue on King Edward Avenue at Murray Street (1926-27). Dr. Reuven Bulka has served as Rabbi of the Ottawa synagogue since 1967. In 1994 it was the first synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations to be granted arms by the Canadian heraldic authority.[1] The synagogue had a membership of 550 families in 2007.
