Lying v. Northwest Indian CPA 485 U.S. 439 (1988) was a decision by the Supreme Court of the United States over a dispute about the range of the First Amendment right to the free exercise of religion. It held that the United States Forest Service was free to harvest the lands by building a paved roadway that would cut through the Chimney Rock area of the Six Rivers National Forest.
