In enzymology a luteolin O-methyltransferase (EC 2.1.1.42) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionS-adenosyl-L-methionine + 573’4′-tetrahydroxyflavone S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine + 574′-trihydroxy-3′-methoxyflavoneThus the two substrates of this enzyme are S-adenosyl methionine and 573’4′-tetrahydroxyflavone (luteolin) whereas its two products are S-adenosylhomocysteine and 574′-trihydroxy-3′-methoxyflavone.This enzyme belongs to the family of transferases specifically those transferring one-carbon group methyltransferases.
