James Lumsden Barkway was a bishop in the 20th century.He was born on 9 July 1878 and educated at Liverpool University and Westminster College Cambridge. After ten years as a Presbyterian minister his first Anglican ministry position was as a minor canon at St Albans Cathedral from where he moved to be vicar of Christ Church Luton. Following time as rector of Little Gaddesden he was appointed the Bishop of Bedford in 1935.
