The following is a list of characters by order of first appearance who first appeared or are returning in the BBC soap opera EastEnders during 2012. The new characters were introduced by the series’ executive producer Bryan Kirkwood. He stepped down from the role in April and his last episode was on 13 July 2012. From 16 July characters were introduced by his successor Lorraine Newman.The first character to be introduced was Les Coker who was a guest character later made a regular.
