Lipstatin is a potent irreversible inhibitor of pancreatic lipase. It is a natural product and was first isolated from the Actinobacterium Streptomyces toxytricini.The popular antiobesity drug orlistat (trade names Xenical and alli) is a saturated derivative of lipstatin.
