Left Unity is a left wing political party in Britain. It was founded on 30 November 2013. The party was founded after the film director Ken Loach appealed for a new party of the left with the eventual aim of replacing the Labour Party as the mass party of the working class as he claimed that the Labour Party had failed to oppose austerity. More than 10000 people signed up to Loach’s initial appeal and as of November 2013 around 1000 members had joined the party.
