It is a Geological Conservation Review site.Laycock Railway Cutting is the best single exposure of the Bathonian ’Fuller’s Earth Rock’ in South Somerset. Ammonites indicating the Morrisi and Subcontractus zones of the Middle Bathonian are frequent.
