In enzymology a L-ascorbate peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.11) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionL-ascorbate + H2O2 dehydroascorbate + 2 H2OThus the two substrates of this enzyme are L-ascorbate and H2O2 whereas its two products are dehydroascorbate and H2O.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases specifically those acting on a peroxide as acceptor (peroxidases). The systematic name of this enzyme class is L-ascorbate:hydrogen-peroxide oxidoreductase.
