Kindaruma Power Station is Kenya’s first post-independence hydro power plant having an initial electric capacity of 44 MW from two turbines.Commissioned in 1968 as part of the seven forks scheme it is located on the Tana River in eastern Mbeere District of Kenya and supplies power to Nairobi and Kamburu.As of 2012 the addition of a third turbine will increase capacity to 72 MW.
