Kevin Payne (January 12 1972 – March 19 2006) was a professional boxer. He died as a result of injuries sustained in a bout against Ryan Maraldo on March 18 2006. Payne had come back from a year-and-a-half layoff to beat Maraldo in their second meeting an 8-round split decision that led to Payne being assisted from the ring and taken to the hospital on a stretcher after the bout.The official cause of death was given as head trauma causing bleeding in Payne’s brain.
