Kaurna (/ˈɡɑːnə/ or /ˈɡaʊnə/) is today a newly formed and linguistically spelt language based on scientific spelling system. Kaurna word lists were recorded by two German lutheran missionaries in the late 1830’s during the process of colonization. Today the people of the Adelaide plains are known as kaurna but the kaurna are a made up of a nation of tribal clan groups each with their own parnkarra district of land along with their own dialectal form of language.
