Katharine Viner (born 1971) is a British journalist and playwright who is currently deputy editor of The Guardian. She has headed The Guardian’s web operations in Australia and will move to New York in summer 2014 to take up responsibility for her newspaper’s online presence there.Raised in Yorkshire the daughter of teachers Viner was educated at Ripon Grammar School and read English at the University of Oxford.
