Joswig syndrome is a very rare presumably hereditary disorder which belongs to the group of GM2 gangliosidoses and was first mentioned by H. Joswig M.D. in 1882.As opposed to gangliosidoses such as Tay-Sachs disease or Sandhoff disease which affect the brain and the spinal cord Joswig syndrome is a predominant disease of the peripheral nervous system.
