Joseph F. Murphy Jr. (born January 9 1944) is an American lawyer and jurist from Baltimore Maryland. Between December 17 2007 and September 30 2011 he was a judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals the highest court in Maryland. Prior to being appointed to the Court of Appeals Judge Murphy served as the Chief Judge of the Court of Special Appeals Maryland’s intermediate court of appeals. Judge Murphy is also an instructor at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
