John Ralph Strickland Taylor was Bishop of Sodor and Man from 1942 to 1954. He was born into an ecclesiastical family on 13 December 1883 and educated at Marlborough and Pembroke College Cambridge. Ordained in 1910 after a period of study at Ridley Hall Cambridge he was then Chaplain Tutor and Vice Principal there until he became Chaplain of the Royal Military Academy Woolwich. From 1818 until 1928 he was Headmaster of St Lawrence College Ramsgate.
