John Joseph Myers (born July 26 1941 in Earlville Illinois) is the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark (New Jersey U.S.) and the Ecclesiastical Superior of Turks and Caicos. He was previously Bishop of Peoria and has been criticized for shielding known child abusers in that diocese. He is expected to retire in 2016 and the church money that he is expending on his future retirement home is another source of controversy.
