John Gilligan (born 29 March 1952) is a convicted Irish criminal. In 2001 he was sentenced to 28 years in prison for the trafficking of commercial quantities of cannabis resin. This sentence was later reduced to 20 years on appeal.On 15 October 2013 Gilligan was released after 17 years in prison.
