Johann Christian Fiedler born at Pirna in 1697 was a painter of portraits who studied in Paris under Rigaud and Largillière. As court-painter at Darmstadt where he died in 1765 he executed the portraits of a number of distinguished personages. Among his productions in the Gallery of that town are The Burial of Christ The Seasons some portraits among which is the artist himself and some fruit and fish pieces.
