Not to be confused with Jay Pierrepont Moffat.Jay Pierrepont Moffat Jr. (born January 17 1932) is an American diplomat. He was the United States Ambassador to Chad from 1983 to 1985. He was the first ambassador to the newly reopened U.S. Embassy in N’Djamena. He is a member of the Butler-Belmont family.
