Japan Democratic Party (日本民主党 Nihon Minshutō) was a short-living right-wing political party in Japan 1954–1955 led by Ichirō Hatoyama. Its leaders included former foreign minister Mamoru Shigemitsu and future Prime Minister Nobusuke Kishi. The party was formed on November 24 1954 by merging Ichiro Hatoyama’s group which left Liberal Party in 1953 and Shigemitsu-led Kaishinto party.
