Bishop James Chan Soon Cheong D.D. was born on July 26 1926 in Selama. He was ordained a priest on Aug. 9 1959. He was appointed Bishop of Melaka-Johor on Dec. 22 1972. His Episcopal ordination took place on June 8 1973. He retired at the age of 75 years on Dec. 10 2001.
