In enzymology an isoflavone 4′-O-methyltransferase (EC 2.1.1.46) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionS-adenosyl-L-methionine + an isoflavone S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine + a 4′-O-methylisoflavoneThus the two substrates of this enzyme are S-adenosyl methionine and isoflavone whereas its two products are S-adenosylhomocysteine and 4′-O-methylisoflavone.This enzyme belongs to the family of transferases specifically those transferring one-carbon group methyltransferases.
