Parliamentary elections were held in Iraq on 27 March 2000. The election was contested by 522 candidates although 30 MPs were appointed to represent Iraqi Kurdistan.All the candidates were either members of the Ba’ath Party or nominal independents loyal to it. The Ba’ath Party won 165 of the 250 seats.
