Iranians in Japan (在日イラン人 Zainichi Iranjin) form Japan’s fifth-largest community of immigrants from a Muslim-majority country. They make up part of the Iranian diaspora. As of 2000 Japanese government figures recorded the population of legal Iranian residents at 6167 individuals with a further 5821 estimated to be residing in the country illegally.
