Iota Lyrae (ι Lyr) is a 5th magnitude star in the constellation Lyra approximately 800 light years away from Earth. It is a bluish white subgiant star of the spectral type B6IV. It therefore possesses a surface temperature of 11000 to 25000 kelvins and is larger brighter and at least twice as hot in surface temperature as our Sun. It is a B[e] star meaning it shows prominent forbidden emission lines of hydrogen in its spectrum. It also rotates rapidly at an uncertain 250 km/s.
