Invisible Friends is a 1989 children’s play by the British playwright Alan Ayckbourn. Often seen as a companion play to Woman in Mind it is about a teenager Lucy who escapes her unhappiness with her own family by reviving her imaginary childhood friend Zara who invites herself to stay with Lucy. Lucy’s family however do not approve of this imaginative thinking and Zara helps Lucy to make them invisible which results in Lucy feeling much happier.
