In enzymology an indolepyruvate C-methyltransferase (EC 2.1.1.47) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionS-adenosyl-L-methionine + (indol-3-yl)pyruvate S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine + (3S)-3-(indol-3-yl)-3-oxobutanoateThus the two substrates of this enzyme are S-adenosyl methionine and (indol-3-yl)pyruvate whereas its two products are S-adenosylhomocysteine and (3S)-3-(indol-3-yl)-3-oxobutanoate.This enzyme belongs to the family of transferases specifically those transferring one-carbon group methyltransferases.
