Imidazole is an organic compound with the formula (CH)2N(NH)CH. It is a colourless solid that dissolves in water to give mildly alkaline solution. In chemistry it is an aromatic heterocycle classified as a diazole and as an alkaloid.Derivatives of imidazole called imidazoles form a common family of heterocycles that share the 13-C3N2 ring but feature varied substituents.
