Hypericin is a naphthodianthrone a red-colored anthraquinone-derivative which together with hyperforin is one of the principal active constituents of Hypericum (Saint John’s wort). Hypericin is believed to act as an antibiotic antiviral and non-specific kinase inhibitor.
