In enzymology a hydroxyphytanate oxidase (EC 1.1.3.27) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionL-2-hydroxyphytanate + O2 2-oxophytanate + H2O2Thus the two substrates of this enzyme are L-2-hydroxyphytanate and O2 whereas its two products are 2-oxophytanate and H2O2.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases specifically those acting on the CH-OH group of donor with oxygen as acceptor.
