Lodovic Hugh Gavin (born 25 October 1878 in Stawell) was an Australian rules footballer who played 108 games with Essendon in the years following the formation of the Victorian Football League (VFL).Gavin a key defender was a member of Essendon’s inaugural premiership side in 1897 and was listed as Essendon’s best player in the 1901 grand final. In 1902 he supposedly won a Best and Fairest award for his performances for Essendon.
