Hong Kong Premier League will be the top tier football league of Hong Kong from 2014. The first season was set to begin in 2012. However it was postponed by 2 years. It is suggested not to apply relegation system on first few seasons.On 7 February 2013 the Hong Kong Football Association claimed that the new Premier League will get under way in autumn 2014. They suggested that the 2013–14 will be a transition year.
